Jeans repair answers a situation every denim wearer knows: the cloth gives way at the crotch or the knee, while the rest of the trousers is still perfect. Jeans that give way there often have several years of wear; their cloth has reached the point where it is most comfortable and most beautiful, stiffness gone, patina in place. Replacing them means starting from zero. Repairing them means extending a garment already at its best.
Two levels of work
The price depends on the condition of the jeans: lightly worn, with a localised area to darn, or in poor general condition, with several areas to reinforce.
Dropping off or sending your jeans
The repair is done in our Toulouse workshop. To arrange a drop-off or shipment, write to us. If the jeans are also too long, we can redo their chain-stitch hem.
After the repair
The jeans are worn and washed as before. To space out washes, air them between wears or use our odour spray; the less the cloth goes through the machine, the longer the repair and the patina last.
The Singer 47W70, a darning machine
We work on a Singer 47W70, an old industrial machine specialised in the darning of fabrics. It lets the needle move freely, so the work follows the weave instead of sewing in a straight line. The darn then integrates into the weave instead of sitting on top of it, like a new weft laid in the worn area.

Jeans that give way at the crotch or the knee often have several years of wear: the cloth is at its most beautiful. We darn them on a Singer 47W70, a vintage industrial darning machine: the weakened cloth gets a reinforcement, then the needle follows the weave. Here is how the repair ages with the rest.

Replacing patinated jeans means starting from zero and losing years of marks. Repairing them means keeping them. Tone on tone for the invisible, contrast thread for the graphic: your jeans go back out for years.
Reinforce, then darn
The weakened cloth first receives a reinforcement patch, placed under the worn area; the darn comes after, over the top. It is therefore not a simple seam laid over a hole, and the repair lasts. Two looks are possible: a tone-on-tone thread, for a discreet darn, or a contrast thread, which owns the repair and makes it a graphic element. We treat the crotch, the knees, the seat and the pockets.
