During the Vietnam War, the US Army dressed its soldiers in jungle fatigues, a tropical outfit worn over the trousers, which gradually replaced the OG-107 in combat units. This navy blue jungle jacket takes up the first model, called the first pattern: exposed buttons and chest pockets with slanted flaps. The military model was worn in field shades; navy blue was never used. That is a deliberate choice: we keep the architecture and drop the uniform.

Cut and sizing
Straight cut, which structures the shoulders with ease and leaves room for a sweatshirt underneath. From S to XXL. Take your usual size: the sleeves have been lengthened for the European build. The size guide helps you decide if you hesitate.
How to wear a navy blue jungle jacket
In place of a town jacket, over a shirt and flannel trousers. Over grey, the sharpest match: a grey sweatshirt and khaki trousers, as in our photos. Open over a T-shirt in summer, the original use of the tropical jacket. It also comes in khaki, its original colour.
Care
Machine washable at home: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first few times, because dyed cotton bleeds slightly. No fabric softener, which would cancel the water-repellent treatment, and no tumble dryer. Air dry in the shade; iron at medium heat, on the reverse.
A washed, then water-repellent cloth
The cloth is woven from 96% cotton and 4% wool. It is first washed, which softens it and gives it a period patina, then receives a discreet water-repellent treatment: water beads on the surface, enough to get through a shower. This treatment does not like fabric softener, which cancels it. The four pockets close with flaps, and the cuffs with a button; all the buttons are corozo.
Patine et durabilité
In three years, this navy will have faded like no uniform ever did.
It takes up the first model of the 1964 American tropical jacket: exposed buttons, slanted chest pockets, the pattern kept. But navy blue never existed on the original. We keep the architecture and change the colour. Here is how it evolves.

Khaki shouts uniform; navy is worn in town. It is the jungle jacket for those who like military clothes without wanting to look dressed up. It goes with grey, beige and black, where khaki resists.
Navy, easier to match
A faithful military reproduction worn in town quickly reads as fancy dress, especially as the cut of the jungle jacket is recognisable. Navy defuses that reading. It also goes with pieces that khaki resists: grey wool trousers, a beige chino, a black coat, a grey sweatshirt. The jacket can therefore be worn in contexts where its khaki version would clash.
One liberty: the sleeves
The pattern stays that of the first model, down to the drawing of the flaps. The only change is the length of the sleeves, lengthened for a current European build, on which American sizing of the sixties falls short. The jacket is made in Morocco to our specifications, with fabrics and trims from France, Spain and Japan.
