The vintage men's blue work jacket
First, the reference. The "bleus de chauffe" of the last century were designed for the factory. Their thick cotton had to withstand the harshest conditions.
Then, the difference. The Eugène jacket keeps that toughness but drops the original bagginess. As a result, it can be worn in town without looking like fancy dress.
Three ways to wear it
- Over a T-shirt: the fitted cut stands on its own, with no layering needed.
- Over a shirt: the Cuban collar leaves room for the collar underneath.
- With raw jeans: two blues that patinate at the same rhythm.
Has this jacket been washed?
Yes. We gave it a heavy wash to create a patina suggesting about six months of wear. The treatment also strengthens the structure of the cloth with a specific product that gives it more hold, while removing pilling. The stone wash is done without harsh chemicals and in line with REACH regulations.
Does the Eugène jacket run small?
It is more fitted than a period work jacket. If you plan to wear it over a thick knit, take one size up. Otherwise your usual size is perfect.
A fitted cut, a Cuban collar
Traditional work jackets were wide, out of necessity. This one follows the body's lines discreetly. The high-quality drill is enough for that, without stiffness.
We also dropped the usual rounded collar. In its place, a Cuban collar. It gives the jacket a sharper drape at the opening.
Patine et durabilité
In three years, this work blue will have faded just where it should.
The work jackets of the last century were cut for the factory, in a thick cotton and a loose cut. The Eugène keeps the toughness and drops the bagginess. Its drill is woven in France, its buttons and rivets fitted in France. Here is how this cotton will fade.
