Men's flannel trousers, in a fatigue cut
Flannel is a suiting cloth; the fatigue cut comes from the US Army work uniform. These men's flannel trousers bring the two together. They take the architecture of our fatigue trousers: patch front pockets with an angled opening, buttoned back pockets, waist tabs, and the waist in an anthracite wool flannel. The result is worn like a town trouser, with pockets that really work.

Cut and sizing
Carrot cut: roomy at the thighs, from 30.5 to 34.5 cm depending on size, then narrowed at the bottom, from 16.75 to 18.5 cm, measured flat. The buttoned waist tabs adjust the waist without a belt. The model runs large: take one size below your usual size. From 28 to 38; the size guide helps you decide.
How to wear men's flannel trousers
With a white shirt and black shoes, like a suit trouser without the suit. With the OG-107 overshirt: the flannel softens the military origin of both pieces. In winter, under a turtleneck and a pea coat, the outfit stays entirely in wool.
Care
Air them and brush them with the nap after each wear: that is the essence of care. When needed, hand wash cold with a wool detergent, without rubbing or wringing; press out the water, roll them in a towel and dry flat, away from any heat source. Steam from a distance, on the reverse or with a pressing cloth. Store on a wide hanger, away from light, with cedar.
A double tab and corozo buttons
The fly and the waistband close with a double buttoned tab. All the buttons are corozo, the vegetable ivory taken from the hardened endosperm of a tropical American palm, and they are double-stitched so they don't come off. Inside, an ecru bias binding finishes the fly and the underlap: a detail nobody sees except the person wearing them.
Patina and durability
In three years, this flannel will have the softness of an old suit.
Flannel is a suiting cloth; the fatigue cut comes from the US Army work uniform. These trousers bring the two together: slanted patch pockets, buttoned back pockets, waist tabs, in an anthracite wool flannel with a brushed twill. Here is how it lives.
-
firm material, solid color, clean finishes.
-
the piece softens where it works the most.
-
wear creases mark themselves and return from one wear to the next.
-
follow the composition instructions; excessive heat and tumble dryers are to be avoided.
-
borders and friction zones soften first.
-
the color shades with use, without aging all at once.
-
the piece is made: supple, familiar, always holding.
-
a seam, a button, a snag is mended in the workshop.
-
nearly three years: a well-kept piece gains in character what it loses in newness.
They are worn like a town trouser, with pockets that really work. It is the winter trouser for those who find the suit too strict and jeans too cold. A warm wool, a free cut, and the style on top.
A 420 g/m² wool flannel
Flannel is a wool cloth with a downy feel. This one, of Portuguese origin, is woven in twill then brushed, which gives it its soft surface and its heathered look. It weighs 420 g/m², a real winter weight, where current suiting flannels are rather lighter. Anthracite, a deep grey, keeps the sobriety of a dress trouser while hiding the marks of a day.
Seams made for use
The whole structure is built with tone-on-tone double topstitching. At the pockets, the seam layers up to four thicknesses, a demanding assembly that does not move once sewn. Inside, two half-moon reinforcement pieces spread the tension, and the crotch is reinforced with a cotton piece. The trousers are made in Portugal, near Braga.
We are here to help you
Find here the answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you choose with confidence.
Our clothes are made from exceptional materials (Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier…) and assembled on vintage machines.
Every piece is designed to last, evolve and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are developed to our own specifications: we design our own weaves, then have them woven by the best mills in the world (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on old looms. A new cloth can take up to a year to come to life.
This exacting standard is what sets Champ de Manoeuvres apart.
