The men's navy blue T-shirt, an undershirt that became a piece
The T-shirt starts its career under the uniform: in 1913, the US Navy issued it to sailors as an undershirt; on chores or in the tropics, they took off their jumper and worked in the T-shirt, before veterans wore it on its own after the Second World War. Its cloth, jersey, takes its name from the island of Jersey, where fishermen's underwear was knitted. This men's navy T-shirt keeps that utilitarian spirit: a thick knit, a solid collar, and a midnight blue that is worn alone or under a jacket.

How to wear a men's navy T-shirt
On its own, with brown corduroy trousers or a beige chino. Under an open OG-107 overshirt, the navy calms the khaki. Under a work jacket, in the workshop as in town. With navy cargo trousers, two blues of different depth.

A triple-thickness ribbed collar
The collar is the first place a T-shirt wears out. Here it is finished with a rib binding: the rib sits over the jersey and forms a triple thickness, topstitched with a double needle in a close cover stitch. The collar stays nicely rounded, does not stretch and keeps its shape through washing. At the back, the binding draws a rounded yoke, visible when laid flat.

A flat-seamed shoulder-blade yoke
At the top of the back, a yoke covers the shoulder blades. It is assembled in a flat seam, to create no thickness against the skin and avoid irritation, and it helps the T-shirt hold on the shoulders. At the sleeves, the cover stitch is more open, to let the knit follow the arm.
Circular-knitted, four-thread overlocked
The jersey weighs 240 g/m²: dense enough to be opaque and hold its shape. It is circular-knitted in Portugal, then all the seams are four-thread overlocked with a chain stitch, which stops them twisting in the wash. The T-shirt is pre-washed before sale: it arrives with a soft hand, already a little lived-in, and shrinkage is limited.
