Full size guide →The men's khaki T-shirt, straight from the kit bag
The T-shirt joined the military as underwear: the US Navy issued it in 1913, and during the Second World War the Army dyed it olive so it would not give away a soldier who took off his jacket. This men's khaki T-shirt keeps that field colour on a heavy knit made to be worn on its own.
Fit and size
Slightly fitted, shaped at the shoulders, straight drop. XS to XXL. Take your usual size; the size guide helps you decide.
How to wear a men's khaki T-shirt
With a beige chino, tone on tone desert. Under an open OG-107 overshirt, two army greens. With a black cargo, more urban. Under a work jacket in winter.
Care
30 °C inside out, short cycle, mild detergent without bleach, separately the first few times. No tumble dryer or softener. Dry in the shade; iron at medium heat, inside out, never on the print.
Nothing at the neck
No sewn label to scratch or flip over: size and brand are printed straight onto the knit, inside the neckline. The collar stays smooth against the skin, and nothing shows when worn open under a shirt.
Patina and durability
In three years, this piece will be yours alone.
In a vintage shop, you buy a stranger’s life. This piece starts at zero: every month adds your own wear. Here is what it becomes, from 0 to 34 months, worn regularly and cared for.
-
firm material, solid color, clean finishes.
-
the piece softens where it works the most.
-
wear creases mark themselves and return from one wear to the next.
-
follow the composition instructions; excessive heat and tumble dryers are to be avoided.
-
borders and friction zones soften first.
-
the color shades with use, without aging all at once.
-
the piece is made: supple, familiar, always holding.
-
a seam, a button, a snag is mended in the workshop.
-
nearly three years: a well-kept piece gains in character what it loses in newness.
A patch chest pocket
On the left side, a jersey patch pocket, hemmed at the top and topstitched on three sides. It holds a notebook, a box of matches or a pair of glasses.
A triple-layer colletage collar
The collar is finished in colletage: the rib rises over the jersey to form a triple layer, topstitched with a twin needle. It stays round and does not stretch out wash after wash. At the top of the back, a shoulder-blade yoke joined with a flat seam avoids any extra bulk.
Circular knit, four-thread overlock
The jersey weighs 240 g/m²: opaque, it holds its shape. Circular-knitted in Portugal, it is overlocked with four threads in chain stitch so the seams do not twist. Pre-washed before sale, it arrives already soft with limited shrinkage.
We are here to help you
Find here the answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you choose with confidence.
Our clothes are made from exceptional materials (Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier…) and assembled on vintage machines.
Every piece is designed to last, evolve and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are developed to our own specifications: we design our own weaves, then have them woven by the best mills in the world (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on old looms. A new cloth can take up to a year to come to life.
This exacting standard is what sets Champ de Manoeuvres apart.
