- Wash your enamel mug in hot soapy water with a soft sponge or a nylon scourer. Avoid metal scourers or abrasive detergents that could scratch or damage the enamel.
The enamel mug is generally dishwasher safe, but repeated washing can dull the enamel over the long term. Prefer hand washing to prolong its shine.
Always let the mug cool before washing. Never plunge a still-hot mug into cold water, to avoid thermal shocks that can crack the enamel.
For stubborn stains or encrusted residue, let the mug soak in hot soapy water for 10 to 15 minutes before rubbing gently. For persistent stains, you can use a little bicarbonate of soda diluted in hot water.
Never use an enamel mug in the microwave, as it contains metal.
Dry the mug carefully after washing with a soft cloth to avoid any trace of moisture and preserve the enamel's shine. Store in a dry place and avoid stacking it roughly, to prevent chips.

The enamel mug does one thing no ceramic cup can: it sits directly on the fire. It is not porcelain, but steel coated in vitreous enamel, a glass powder fused onto the metal in firing, most often between 750 and 850 °C. Since the 18th century, kitchen utensils have been enamelled this way. The object has the conductivity of metal and the neutral surface of glass: it passes no taste to the drink.

An object for the bivouac as much as the desk
The mug tolerates direct flame: you can warm a coffee on embers or on a stove, then drink it from the same vessel. That is what makes it an object for the bivouac as much as the desk. Careful, the handle heats up like the rest of the body: use a cloth or a glove to take it off the fire. It comes in black and blue, speckled with white, and goes with our enamel coffee pot.
Chipping is part of the object
With time, the enamel cracks and lets the metal show, generally on the rim and the bottom. It is not a manufacturing flaw: it is the normal behaviour of an enamel subjected to thermal and mechanical shock. If a chip comes off, remove it, wash the mug and keep using it. These marks become its patina, like wear on a work garment.
Colours
Two colours, black or blue, speckled with white, with a curved handle. Each mug shows slight variations in the speckling.
Precautions
Never use it in the microwave: it is metal. Let it cool before washing, and never plunge a still-hot mug into cold water, to avoid the thermal shock that cracks the enamel. Avoid stacking it roughly.
Care
Wash in hot soapy water with a soft sponge or a nylon scourer, never a metal scourer or an abrasive detergent. It is dishwasher safe, but repeated washing dulls the enamel: hand washing keeps it shiny longer. For a stubborn stain, leave it to soak for a quarter of an hour in hot soapy water, with a little bicarbonate of soda if needed. Dry it carefully, especially if it has chips.
