The selvedge work jacket, a workshop blazer
This selvedge work jacket starts from our Fernand jacket, whose trio of patch pockets it keeps, and turns it into a work blazer: rounded finishes, a light and resistant shape, fitted without being slim. You wear it open over khaki trousers like a town jacket, or closed to the collar when the wind rises. It is cut from a Japanese denim, then made and washed in France.

Cut and sizing
Straight cut, fitted without being slim, with about 10 cm (4 in) of ease around the chest. From S to XXL, half chest runs from 53 to 61 cm (20.9 to 24 in), front length from 70 to 76 cm (27.6 to 29.9 in) and sleeve from 66 to 69 cm (26 to 27.2 in). Take your usual size.
How to wear a selvedge work jacket
Open over a khaki chino, as in our photos, and an ecru henley. Collar up at the seaside, buttoned to the top. With Japanese jeans for a total denim look, the two cloths patinating together.
Care
Wash it as rarely as possible: denim patinates better that way. Air it between wears. When needed: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, separately the first few times, because indigo bleeds. Air dry in the shade, never in a tumble dryer.
Four pockets, one hidden
On the front, a 12 × 13 cm chest pocket and two 17 × 17 cm lower pockets, big enough for belongings and tools. Inside, on the right, a fourth hidden pocket. The bottoms of the three outer pockets are lined with cotton, to extend their life where keys and tools rub most.

A wool blazer is kept for occasions; this one is worn every day and gets better with every outing. Open over a khaki like a town jacket, closed to the collar when the wind rises. It is the jacket that links the workshop and the meeting.
An Okayama selvedge, in narrow width
The denim is a 100% cotton selvedge of 400 g/m², or 14 oz, woven in the Okayama region of Japan, on vintage narrow-width looms. These narrow looms close the cloth on each side: turned over, the jacket shows its pale weft and its selvedges. The back is cut in one piece, with no centre seam.
The cloth has been given a rinse wash in France. That wash softens it and makes it pleasant to wear from the first day; there is no need to wash it before putting it on.
The signet collar, the hidden back button
The signet collar, typically French, can be worn open or turned up to protect the neck. The jacket closes with five corozo buttons, a vegetable ivory. A little surprise under the first one: an ivory cat's-eye back button, revealed when you wear it the English way, lapel showing. At the collar, a Champ de Manoeuvres leather patch. The sleeves are open, with reinforced cuffs and military-inspired hems, which can be worn open or half turned back.
