Heather grey is not obtained by dyeing the finished knit. Fibres of different shades are blended before spinning, then spun together: the yarn already contains several greys, from light to almost black. The colour of this men's grey beanie is therefore built into the material, not laid on its surface. It gains a depth a plain grey does not reach, and it ages better: where a plain grey ends up going shiny at the rubbing points, the blended shade keeps blurring the eye.

Lambswool, angora, one piece
The beanie is knitted in Scotland on hand-operated frames, in a fully fashioned knit: it comes off in one piece, with no joining seam to mark the forehead. Lambswool, the majority, gives hold and resistance; angora brings softness. Its fibre is hollow, which makes angora warmer and lighter than wool alone. The blend breathes and avoids clamminess when you go from outside to inside.
