The khaki moleskin jacket, between uniform and workshop

This khaki moleskin jacket brings together two traditions that have almost never crossed: olive drab, the shade of American military clothing, and moleskin, the cloth of French workwear. The result belongs fully to neither. It is a workshop jacket in a field colour, keeping from both worlds what is most useful: strength and restraint.

Cut and sizing

Fitted cut: it slips under a pea coat without bulk, which a loose jacket cannot do. From S to 3XL. Take your usual size, or one size up to wear it over a thick sweater. The size guide helps you decide.

How to wear a khaki moleskin jacket

Over brown or camel, the natural match for olive: a camel chino, leather shoes. With selvedge jeans: olive and indigo make one of the strongest pairs in the work wardrobe. In winter, under a pea coat. It also exists in hydron blue.

Care

Machine washable at home, dry cleaning is not necessary: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first few times, because dyed cotton bleeds slightly. No tumble dryer and no fabric softener. Air dry in the shade; iron on the reverse at medium heat.

Olive drab, a colour made to disappear

The American army chose olive drab because it blends with foliage and damp earth. It is a functional colour before it is a style colour. This muted, slightly greyed olive behaves today like a neutral: it takes brown, camel, ecru, navy and indigo, and is easier to wear than most greens. The dyeing is done in France, in the Pays de la Loire.

Patine et durabilité

In three years, this olive drab will have kept its sobriety.

Olive drab comes from American uniforms, moleskin from French workshops. This jacket brings the two together: a 420 g/m² satin-weave cloth, made in France, in a field shade that has become a neutral. Unlike sand, olive keeps its original look for a long time. Here is how it evolves.

It is the moleskin for those who want a jacket with character without it standing out too much. Olive goes with jeans, grey, ecru, and passes under a coat with no extra bulk. A workshop jacket in a field colour: the best of both worlds, and a strength made to last.

A 420 g/m² moleskin

Moleskin is a very tightly woven cotton cloth in a satin weave, with a short, soft surface, present in French workshops since the 19th century. Ours weighs 420 g/m², about 14 oz. It is stiff for the first few days, then softens and takes the shape of your shoulders. On a muted olive the patina stays discreet: unlike the sand, this jacket keeps its original look for a long time.

Buttons that stand out

The corozo buttons, a vegetable ivory, contrast against the green. On the front, a chest pocket and two large lower pockets, wide enough for a notebook; inside, an inner pocket for the essentials. It is assembled on an off-the-arm machine, and the jacket is made entirely in France, from weaving to buttons.

FAQ

We are here to help you

Find here the answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you choose with confidence.

Contact us?
What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials (Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier…) and assembled on vintage machines.

Every piece is designed to last, evolve and patinate over time. The fabrics are developed to our own specifications: we imagine our own weaves, then have them woven in the best mills in the world (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on old looms. This process can take up to a year to produce a new cloth.

It is this level of exacting standards that sets Champ de Manoeuvres apart.
