Wash at 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent.
Wash separately the first few times: dyed cotton bleeds slightly.
Do not tumble dry: air dry in the shade.
Iron at medium heat, on the reverse to protect the colour.
Avoid fabric softener, which clogs the fibre and reduces its breathability.

Men's olive chinos, from the utility wardrobe
At the start of the 20th century, gabardine trousers dressed officer and worker alike: they had to allow movement under the jacket and hold up at work, then they went civilian for their clean look. These men's olive chinos take our Slack model in the most utilitarian of its three shades. The cloth is a 250 g/m² cotton gabardine, woven and dyed in France in a very tight twill, denser than a classic gabardine: it resists abrasion and stays supple. Worn cuffed, with a chambray shirt and loafers, it works as well in the workshop as in town.

Cut and sizing
Cut fitted toward the bottom. From 28 to 38, the half thigh runs from 30.5 to 34.5 cm and the half opening from 16.75 to 18.5 cm; in size 32, the chino measures 43 cm half waist, 32.5 cm half thigh and 17.5 cm half opening. This model runs large: take one size below your usual size.
How to wear olive chinos
Cuffed, with a chambray shirt and loafers, as in our photos. With an ecru henley in summer, or under a raw denim jacket in mid-season. It also comes in beige and navy.
Care
Machine washable at home: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first few times, because dyed cotton bleeds slightly. No tumble dryer and no fabric softener. Air dry in the shade; iron at medium heat, on the reverse to protect the colour.
Slant pockets, welt pockets
On the front, two slant pockets with an angled opening where the hand slides naturally. At the back, two deep double-welt pockets closed with a corozo button. Each is stopped with a D-shaped stitch, which reinforces both the edge and the bottom of the pocket.

In three years, this olive will have taken on the tone of a field trouser.

Olive is the easiest colour to wear after blue, and the rarest in a wardrobe. It goes with ecru, navy, brown. It is the chino that gives character to a simple outfit, without overdoing it.
A fly held by two plackets
The fly closes on a size-5 metal YKK zip from Japan, and a double button placket holds it at the waist. All the buttons are corozo, a vegetable ivory, sewn twice with Coats thread. The front crotch is lined; the back crotch and the fly are finished with a bias binding.
A tailor's waistband
Inside, the waistband is lined with ecru 100% cotton Italian herringbone, which stops it losing shape. The Heritage Workwear label is sewn on with a zigzag stitch. It is a detail you only see when you open the trousers, and that is exactly why we took care of it.
