Birth of an icon
The origins of the Hawaiian shirt date back to the end of the 19th century when Japanese migrants arrived in Hawaii to serve as labor in the sugar cane fields.
They work shirtless in the fields, which shocks the Christian missionaries. They are then required to wear a cotton shirt with mother-of-pearl or coconut buttons, to which local flowers are added as well as decorations usually present on kimonos.
Locally called aloha shirt in reference to the Hawaiian aloha, this shirt appeared around 1905 in the shop of a Japanese immigrant who made it with kimono fabrics by Koichiro Miyamoto known as Musa-Shiya the Shirtmaker. In 1935, an advertisement for this kind of shirt was published on the island by a local newspaper.
Let's go back to the 1930s for the first more contemporary shirts to appear in Hawaii and then on the 'Rican' mainland. It is imported by tourists and soldiers returning from Hawaii. At first worn by surfers, then democratized after the Second World War. The Aloha shirt was born.

Heritage, Work & Chill
Ours made according to the rules of the art, the collar mounted in a sheath, all the buttons of the shirt are in corozo (vegetable ivory).
We placed a discreet one on the foot of the collar. For this, we have chosen a Cuban collar with a length of 8 cm, the latter can be worn closed using this hidden button or left open for a more authentic appearance.
All the buttons are of natural origin, including the material, 100% viscose from bamboo. Thus, we chose this type of material for its lightness and its fluidity imitating silk.
The shirt can be worn open or closed, the seams are of surgical precision.

Worn by the biggest movie stars, from Elvis to Brad Pitt, it has become an essential essential in the wardrobe of purists and lovers of beautiful pieces, regardless of the season.
Made in Portugal in a superior grade, one word to sum it up: cool attitude.
