The nine markers in detail
  1. 0 day

    New cloth

dense wool, even surface, structured hold.

  2. 1 month

    The cloth takes shape

it softens at the shoulders and elbows and follows your movements.

  3. 2 months

    First creases

arm and waist creases mark gently, without wrinkling.

  4. 3 months

    A pass of the brush

brushing after wear lays the nap back in place and removes dust.

  5. 5 months

    Airing

hung and aired, the wool loses creases and odors; cleaning stays rare.

  6. 8 months

    Patinated surface

the nap lies down in the friction zones, the color gains relief.

  7. 13 months

    One winter of wear

the cloth has found its shape, shoulders and collar sit right.

  8. 21 months

    Resilient fiber

wool withstands flexing far better than cotton: the cloth lasts.

  9. 34 months

    Third winter

a well-kept cloth gains patina without wearing out; a button is sewn back, a lining is mended.

FAQ

We are here to help you

Find here the answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you choose with confidence.

Contact us?
What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials — Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier… — and assembled on vintage machines.

Every piece is designed to last, evolve and patinate over time. The fabrics are developed to our own specifications: we imagine our own weaves, then have them woven in the best mills in the world (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on old looms. This process can take up to a year to produce a new cloth.

It is this level of exacting standards that sets Champ de Manoeuvres apart.
