The Oxford button-down shirt originated in the mid-19th century on American polo fields, where players adopted the buttoned collar of English sports shirts to keep the fabric in place against wind and movement. Introduced in 1865 by the Brooks Brothers in Manhattan, it met a practical need: to keep the collar flat during physical exertion. Quickly adopted by Ivy League students and then white-collar workers, it transitioned from sports to the office as a versatile staple.

Woven from 180 gsm Oxford cotton, the basket-weave herringbone ensures a stable, grainy texture that is thick without being rigid, breathable, and holds its shape after washing. It features a recessed button-down collar, firmly sewn natural mother-of-pearl buttons; neat finishes—double stitching, sturdy hems—prevent wear at the folds. The handfeel remains crisp, softening over time.

Its tailored fit (chest 54 to 62 cm, waist 52 to 60 cm), with a length of 72 to 76 cm, follows the torso without constraining: sleeves 62 to 66 cm allow for free movement. It drapes cleanly whether tucked in or left out, suitable for meetings or casual wear, and breathable in all seasons.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs are automatically calculated when you place your order. Delivery is free in France and Belgium for orders over €150, in Europe for orders over €300, and worldwide for orders over €400.

What are the delivery times?

Delivery times vary depending on the destination: 2 to 5 business days in France, 2 to 8 days in Europe, and up to 16 days for the rest of the world. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the order is shipped.
