During the Vietnam War, the US Army dressed its soldiers in jungle fatigues, a tropical outfit worn over the trousers, which gradually replaced the OG-107 in combat units. The jacket had to be light, ventilated, and offer somewhere to keep the essentials in the humidity. Our khaki jungle jacket reproduces the first model of this jacket, called the first pattern, in its original colour, made to blend into earth and dry vegetation.

Cut and sizing
Straight cut, which structures the shoulders with ease and leaves room for a shirt or a fine knit. From S to XXL. Take your usual size: the pattern has been adjusted for that. The size guide helps you decide if you hesitate.
How to wear a khaki jungle jacket
Open over a white T-shirt and jeans, the original use: a jacket for the heat, worn light. Over grey flannel trousers, it loses its surplus air. Over a fine knit, a navy lambswool sweater for example, the military character balances out. With a dark bottom, navy cargo trousers, the khaki lightens. It also comes in navy blue.

Recognising a first pattern
Two details are enough. First, the buttons, which are exposed all down the jacket; later versions hid them under flaps, to avoid snagging in dense vegetation. Then the chest pockets, whose flaps are slanted rather than horizontal, so they stay reachable with gear strapped across the chest. The jacket has four flap pockets. The buttons are corozo, replacing the original buttons.
Patine et durabilité
In three years, this jungle jacket will have the patina of a true 1964 model.

The first pattern is the most sought-after of the three models of the tropical jacket, and the hardest to find. This one gives it to you faithful, new, in your size. It is the summer jacket with a real history.
A washed, then water-repellent cloth
The cloth is woven from 96% cotton and 4% wool. It is first washed, which softens it and gives it the patina of a surplus jacket, then receives a discreet water-repellent treatment: water beads on the surface, enough to get through a shower. This treatment does not like fabric softener, which cancels it; the rest of the care is that of a cotton jacket.
One liberty: the sleeves
We followed the period pattern, down to the cut of the back and the drawing of the flaps. The only change is the length of the sleeves: American sizing of the sixties falls short on a current European build, so we lengthened them. The jacket is made in Morocco to our specifications, with fabrics and trims from France, Spain and Japan.
