The men's henley, born on the Thames
Before it was a basic, the henley was a rowers' affair. It takes its name from Henley-on-Thames, the English town where the Royal Regatta has been rowed since 1839. Crews wore under their jerseys a collarless top closed by a short buttoned placket: you opened it during the effort, and closed it when the damp rose from the river. Sailors and workers then adopted it, before the civilian wardrobe took it over in the 20th century. Our men's henley keeps that logic of a garment that serves before it poses.
Cut and sizing
Close cut, with about 8 cm (3 in) of ease around the chest. From S to XXL, the chest measures 52 to 60 cm flat (20.5 to 23.6 in), the front length 71 to 75 cm (28 to 29.5 in) and the sleeve 63 to 67 cm (24.8 to 26.4 in): each size adds 2 cm of chest and 1 cm of length. How to wear a men's henley
On its own in summer, sleeves rolled up and collar open. Under an overshirt or a sweater in mid-season. Under a raw denim jacket when the cold sets in. For the warm days, it also comes in short sleeves.

What we kept, what we changed
We kept the grandad collar and its buttoned placket, which you open or close depending on the hour and the weather. The placket drops 15 cm and the neckband is 2.3 cm: enough to hold its shape, not enough to tighten the neck.
We changed what you feel when you wear it. A yoke in the back, set in a flat seam, prevents rubbing at the shoulder blades. The placket is reinforced with cotton poplin, to hold up button after button. And the cut stays close to the body without clinging.

Dressier than a T-shirt, simpler than a shirt: the henley is the piece for days when you want neither. Under an overshirt or on its own, it gives an effortless look. It is the top you wear from October to April.
A 240 g/m² jersey, pre-washed
The cotton weighs 240 g/m²: enough to hold its shape without becoming a sweatshirt. The knit receives an anti-pilling treatment, then each piece is pre-washed in the workshop, so it has a soft hand from the first wear and a drape already a little lived-in. The seams are four-thread overlocked. The placket closes with corozo buttons, the vegetable ivory taken from the nut of a South American palm.
Four colours for one henley
Off-white, a broken white with nothing optical about it. Khaki, the green of surplus. Navy, the blue of work. Anthracite, for those who like black without its harshness. Four shades chosen to go with the raw look of selvedge jeans as with the twill of an OG 107 overshirt.
