Chambray is woven in plain weave, with dyed warp threads, often blue, and white weft threads. That crossing gives it its slightly heathered effect. Lighter, softer and more breathable than denim, it suits fine pieces such as shirts and scarves. This chambray scarf keeps all of its character: the indigo of workwear, without the stiffness of a heavy cloth.

How to wear a chambray scarf
Wrapped twice and tight at the neck, it replaces a scarf in mid-season. Thrown open over the shoulders, under a work jacket. Tied short in the collar of a shirt or over a navy T-shirt, like a workshop neckerchief. It is a cotton scarf: it cuts the wind, but it does not replace a wool scarf in January.
Care
- Wash it as rarely as possible and air it between wears.
- When needed, 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately for the first few washes, because indigo naturally bleeds.
- No tumble dryer: air dry in the shade. Iron at medium heat on the reverse if needed.
A Collect Mills cloth
The cloth comes from Japan, from the weaving house Collect Mills. It is a 100% cotton indigo chambray with an even colour, whose heathering shows up close and disappears at a distance. We chose it for that fineness: on a scarf, which is knotted, creased and worn against the skin, the quality of the weave shows immediately.
Cut and washed in Toulouse
The scarf is cut and made in our Toulouse workshop, then washed after making. The cloth has already shrunk and softened, so it drapes loosely from the first wear instead of staying stiff like new chambray. At about two metres long and 50 cm wide, it works as a tight double wrap or worn open over the shoulders.
Patine et durabilité
In three years, this scarf will have the softness of an old handkerchief.
Chambray is the light cousin of denim: an indigo warp, a white weft, a plain weave rather than a twill. This one comes from Collect Mills, in Japan, and is cut and finished in our Toulouse workshop, at 2 metres by 50 cm. Already washed, it falls supple from the first knot. Here is what follows.
