Men's black jeans, dyed before being woven
The American work jean of the 1940s was dyed to last, not to please. That is the logic our men's black jeans follow: their warp thread is dyed before weaving. Unlike piece-dyed blacks, which fade to grey uniformly from the first washes, this one keeps a deep black ground and only wears where use stresses it. It is the most sober and most urban version of our 3320 cut.

Cut and sizing
The 3320 cut is high in the rise, straight in the leg, easy without being loose. This colour runs large: take one size below your usual size. Inseam of 80 cm (31.5 in) on all sizes, from 28 to 38. The denim is unsanforised and can shrink by 1 to 1.5 cm at the first wash.
How to wear men's black jeans
With a chambray shirt or an anthracite henley, in a dark tonal outfit. Under a pea coat in winter, with ankle boots or patinated derbies. The 3320 cut also comes in blue, rinsed ecru and salt and pepper.
Care
To keep the black, wash as rarely as possible, and air between wears. If needed: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, separately the first few times. Air dry in the shade, never in a tumble dryer.
A 14 oz selvedge, woven in Okayama
The cloth is woven on a shuttle loom in Okayama, Japan: 14 oz of cotton, in a 3×1 twill, with a clean selvedge visible on the outer seam of the leg. The hand is firm and dense at first. It relaxes with wear, without losing the hold that makes the silhouette.
Patine et durabilité
In three years, this black will be grey only where you wanted it.
An ordinary black jean is dyed after weaving: it greys in one block after a few washes. This one is dyed in the yarn, before being woven in Okayama in 14 oz. Its ground stays deep black, and only the areas that work lighten. Here is where, and when.

With time, a yarn-dyed black does not fade in one block: it patinates. Behind the knees and at the hips, repeated creases draw marks in deep grey, which stand out against a ground that stays black. The patina is more discreet than on indigo denim, and that is exactly what you come looking for with a black.
The details of a work jean
Chain-stitch seams on an off-the-arm Union Special. Cold-forged copper rivets marked Champ de Manœuvres at the stress points. Front pockets in herringbone cloth, the signature of 1940s work clothing. Reinforced crotch, lined back pocket bottoms, bias binding at the fly, chain-stitched waistband. 100% cotton thread on all seams, so repair stays possible.
