The monkey pant is an American military trouser from the Second World War, the fatigue trouser of the Marines in the Pacific. It had to withstand heavy use while keeping a functional shape: strong pockets, a stable cut, outdoor wear. These men's moleskin trousers keep its utilitarian logic and its characteristic back pocket, reinterpreted, but they are cut from a French moleskin and redrawn for today's leg.
Cut and sizing
Carrot cut: roomy at the thighs, then narrowed at the bottom, to 18 cm in size 32. The width is in the pattern: it leaves room without flapping, and the narrow bottom allows a short cuff without a funnel effect. Sizes 28 to 36. If you hesitate, the size guide helps you decide.
How to wear men's moleskin trousers
With a work jacket: two utilitarian pieces, with no uniform effect if the shades differ, as with a sand moleskin jacket. Rolled up over ankle boots or white sneakers. With knitwear: a navy lambswool sweater softens the military character of the piece at once.

A cotton mole skin
Moleskin is a tightly woven cotton cloth covered in a flexible coating that gives it the look of shaved velvet: its name comes from the English "mole skin". It is often presented as the French counterpart of denim, for the same working use, and it used to come in trade colours: white for painters, black for carpenters, blue for factory workers. Ours is olive green.

The monkey pant was the fatigue trouser of the Marines in the Pacific: strong pockets, a stable cut, made to serve. We keep its logic and its back pocket, in a French 420 g/m² moleskin, dyed in the north and sewn in our Toulouse workshop. Here is how its coating will patinate.

A trouser with character is recognised by the fact that it looks like no other in the street. This one has the history of a military trouser, the softness of a shaved velvet and a carrot cut of today. Sewn in Toulouse, it is one of the rare trousers whose workshop you know.
A patina in patches
The moleskin weighs 420 g/m² here, and is dyed in the north of France. It is a little firm the first few days, like any cloth of this weight, then softens clearly and takes the bend of the knee. It does not fade in sharp streaks like jeans: it marks in diffuse patches, at the knees and the waist. The trousers age without ever looking worn out.
Sewn in our Toulouse workshop
The trousers are made in France, in our own workshop in Toulouse. The back pocket, taken from the original military model and reinterpreted, stays a utilitarian detail rather than an ornamental one; the side pockets and the flat-felled seams follow the same logic. It is the same workshop that repairs our clothes: the trousers can go back there the day a knee or a pocket needs it.
