Wash separately the first few times: dyed cotton bleeds slightly.

Men's beige chinos, finished like tailored trousers
At the start of the 20th century, gabardine trousers dressed officer and worker alike: they had to allow movement under the jacket and hold up at work. Our men's beige chinos, the Slack model, marry these two legacies. From tailoring, they keep the waistband, lined inside with 100% cotton Italian herringbone that stops it losing shape, and signed with our woven Heritage Workwear label, sewn with a zigzag stitch. From workwear, they keep the strength.

Cut and sizing
Cut fitted toward the bottom: ease at the thighs, from 30.5 to 34.5 cm half thigh depending on size, and a leg that narrows to 16.75 to 18.5 cm half opening. In size 32: 43 cm half waist, 32.5 cm half thigh, 17.5 cm half opening. Sizes 28 to 38. This model runs large: take one size below your usual size.
How to wear beige chinos
With rolled cuffs, over a chambray shirt, as in our photos. With a sky-blue oxford shirt and a jacket for a dressier day. It also comes in navy and olive.
Care
Machine washable at home: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first few times, because dyed cotton bleeds slightly. No tumble dryer and no fabric softener, which clogs the fibre. Air dry in the shade; iron at medium heat, on the reverse to protect the colour.
A lined fly, a YKK zip
The front crotch is lined; the back crotch and the fly are finished with a bias binding. A double button placket holds the fly at the waist. Underneath, an ecru cotton lining and a size-5 metal zip from YKK in Japan. All the buttons are corozo, a vegetable ivory, sewn twice with Coats thread.

The beige chino is the most worn trouser in the world, and the most often disappointing: it loses shape at the waist and creases at the knees. This one is built not to. It is the beige you keep, not the one you replace every spring.
A gabardine woven and dyed in France
The cloth is a 250 g/m² cotton gabardine, woven and dyed in France. Its weave is a very tight twill, a fine, dense diagonal: that gives it both abrasion resistance and suppleness, where a classic gabardine is airier. Piece-dyed, it keeps a stable hand through washing. The trousers are then assembled in Morocco, to our specifications.
Double-welt back pockets
At the back, two deep double-welt pockets close with a corozo button. Each is stopped with a D-shaped stitch: a dress-trouser finish that also reinforces the edges and bottom of the pocket. No anonymous chino here, but all the details of a true period chino.
