These British army socks come from a stock that was never issued: they are new pieces, produced for British issue in hot zones and recovered as they were. The "warm weather", or desert, model answered a precise constraint: not insulating from the cold like winter wool socks, but managing perspiration in a closed boot, over long periods, in the midst of sand and heat.

One size: the ribbed knit and the elastane adapt to the shape of the foot and ankle.
How to wear British army socks
In combat boots, walking boots or hiking shoes, which they were designed for. With khaki cargo trousers or military bermuda shorts in summer. For town use, our Italian army mercerised cotton socks will suit better.

Why so much synthetic
The composition is surprising from us, who favour natural fibres: 73% polyester, 12% cotton, 10% nylon and 5% elastane. It answers the use. Polyester absorbs very little moisture and dries quickly, where cotton holds it against the skin; elastane provides hold and good stability through repeated washing. It is a functional choice, inherited from the military specification.

Made for long marches in the heat, they are perfect for summer in ankle boots. Their heathered beige is the original colour. When the stock is gone, there will be no more.
A ribbed knit, a reinforced heel
The knit is ribbed and dense: it holds the ankle and limits slipping in the shoe. The heel and toe are reinforced with a higher yarn density, because these are the two areas where wear concentrates on long walks. The colour, a two-tone heathered beige, comes directly from issue for arid climates. The socks are made in the United Kingdom.
