Utility Pants Fatigue

The Fatigue Utility trousers originate from the OG-107 uniform, introduced in 1952 by the US Army to equip soldiers in the field. Succeeding the M1943, it faced varied terrains, heavy loads, and harsh washes during the Cold War and the early Vietnam War. Adopted by civilians from the 1960s, it became an everyday utility staple.

Woven from heavyweight 12 oz sateen cotton – compared to the original 8.5 oz – the fabric gains in density and granular texture. The pigment enzyme dyeing creates a vintage olive green, surface-worn to evoke age without weakening the weave; the hand remains firm to the touch, satin-like for a subtle drape. Double topstitching and bar tacking reinforce the spacious pockets (28x18 cm front, 17x14 cm back), while the gusset lined with Italian chevron protects against prolonged friction.

Its carrot fit offers volume at the thighs before tapering at the ankles, with adjustable tightening tabs eliminating the need for a belt. For a loose fit, take your usual size; for a more fitted look, size down. It moves freely, structures the leg without restricting, and is suitable for both urban and outdoor settings.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled on vintage machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.
