The Joe starts from a deliberate collision. Its cut comes from the blue work jacket, with its three rounded patch pockets; its material comes from the dressy wardrobe, with a suede lambskin and sleeves set like a tailor's jacket. This men's suede jacket is worn over a shirt and wool trousers as well as over raw jeans, and dresses up without stiffness.

How to wear a men's suede jacket
Over a chambray shirt and selvedge jeans, as in our photos: the suede of the leather against the dryness of the denim. In place of a blazer, over a white oxford shirt and wool trousers. Over a fine knit in mid-season, under a coat in winter.
Care
Leather is not washed: no machine, no soaking, no dry cleaning. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, and brush the suede dry to raise the nap. In rain, let it dry at room temperature, away from a radiator. A stain is dabbed, never rubbed. Store the jacket on a wide hanger, away from light, never in a plastic bag.
A suede lambskin
Suede lambskin is a leather sanded on the flesh side: that is what gives it its matte look and suede feel. Lambskin, fine and dense, is much more supple than full-grain leather. The jacket therefore falls like a textile, without the stiffness of a bomber, and wears without a break-in period. The trade-off of this fineness: lambskin is more sensitive to snags than cowhide.

Tailored sleeves
The sleeves are pre-shaped and the cuffs sewn to shape, a tailor's finish rather than a leatherworker's. The arm keeps its natural curve at rest, where a straight sleeve creases at the crook of the elbow. Inside, a matching viscose lining slides over the shirt without overheating. The jacket is made in Morocco.
Five pockets, and a reason for each
Outside, three rounded patch pockets, in the spirit of the period blue jackets: they really work, unlike the welt pockets of a suit jacket, which lose shape as soon as you put something in them. Inside, two pockets edged in suede leather, one closed with a YKK zip for what must not fall out, the other buttoned. The midnight-blue corozo buttons are set on back buttons, an invisible detail that stops the pressure from tearing the leather.
