Men's orange socks are the cheapest piece in the wardrobe that changes an outfit the most. A pumpkin orange in a low shoe, under a dark trouser: it is one of the few places in menswear where a bright colour passes without argument. It shows when you walk or sit, and disappears the rest of the time.

Size
One size: the ribbed knit and the polyamide adapt to the shape of the foot. Their medium density suits a dress shoe as well as an ankle boot.
How to wear men's orange socks
Under flannel trousers with white sneakers, as in our photos. With raw selvedge jeans, cuffed, and black shoes: a short cuff shows the colour. With a khaki chino, orange and khaki work naturally together.
Care
Machine washable with no special care: 30 °C (86 °F), normal cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first time, like any bright colour. Turn them inside out before washing to protect the knit. Avoid the tumble dryer, which shrinks the foot and tires the elastic; air dry.
An issue sock, in a civilian colour
This model was built to a military specification: knit density, resistance to repeated washing, a knit that holds without sagging. These are criteria of heavy use, not of superficial comfort. The pumpkin orange, on the other hand, has of course nothing regulation about it: that is the whole gap we are after, the construction of a field sock in a shade nothing justifies but pleasure. The khaki version stays in the original register.
80% cotton, 20% polyamide
A pure cotton sock stretches and slips into the shoe after a few wears. The 20% polyamide gives elastic recovery: the sock regains its shape in the wash and holds the ankle. Like most socks, they combine a natural fibre and a synthetic fibre, here polyamide, the nylon family. Cotton stays the large majority, which preserves breathability and feel. The knit is ribbed, medium density, and knitted in Belgium and France.
