Marina wool work jacket

Born in naval shipyards to equip sailors and dockworkers, the Marina jacket – or American "pea coat" – protects against salt, wind, and humidity with dense wool and a stand-up collar that converts into an improvised hood. Essentially maritime workwear, it has become popular in civilian life for its robustness and versatility, a hybrid between a tailored jacket and a work jacket.

The silky and resistant wool, which does not pill, offers a soft hand and breathable warmth without weight. Made in Portugal like a tailored jacket – with sleeves and body assembled in the same way – it features a military-style collar with a stand and banana shape for a clean drape on the neck. The four pockets lined with Italian chevron (chest 12x14 cm, lower 18x18 cm, one internal in wool fabric) and khaki bartacks reinforce its solidity, while the unbleached cotton lining in the body and striped viscose in the sleeves glide effortlessly. Corozo buttons punctuate a clean finish.

Its fitted cut provides structure without restricting. Worn over a sweater or t-shirt, open or buttoned, it navigates sea and city with timeless utilitarian elegance.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.
