International orange is used in aviation and the maritime world to set objects apart from their surroundings; the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco wears a lighter shade of it to be better seen by ships. One size: the ribbed, elastic knit fits every head, men and women. It is worn short, with the cuff up, or unfolded over the ears.
How to wear a men's orange beanie
As the only colour, over a black, navy or khaki coat, a pea coat for example: add nothing else bright. On a bike or a winter hike, it makes you visible in the low light at the end of the day. Over raw denim, orange and indigo make a frank contrast, inherited from workwear.

A shade laid on the fibre

The beanie is knitted in Scotland on hand-operated frames, in a fully fashioned knit: it comes off in one piece, with no joining seam that would mark the forehead. Lambswool, at 75%, gives the structure; angora, at 25%, brings softness, and its hollow fibre makes it warmer and lighter than wool alone. The blend breathes: you don't overheat when going from cold to warm.
