Lockroy Work Jacket

Lockroy Work Jacket

The Coltin work jacket originated in 19th-century French factories, designed to protect workers from machinery, dust, and prolonged exertion. Worn over a shirt, it offered durability and mobility without being cumbersome; inspired by industrial smocks under Lockroy, a minister promoting the naval industry, it quickly adapted to civilian life as a robust utility garment.

Woven from slub cotton drill, a tight twill weave similar to denim, the approximately 12-14 oz fabric gains a rugged texture and relief without losing flexibility. Dyed faded Hydron blue for a stable vintage effect, it retains its feel after washing; made in Morocco, features include a convertible stand-up collar with a counter-button, 5 corozo buttons (hardened vegetable ivory), open sleeves with reinforced cuffs, and patch pockets with chain stitching (hip 17x16 cm, chest 11x12 cm, interior 17x13 cm).

Its fitted cut (chest 53 to 61 cm), length 72 to 76 cm, structures the torso without constricting: it drapes just right, moves with the arm, and can be worn open or closed depending on the use, making it versatile for both construction sites and city wear.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.
