Designed for those who set off at dawn. Open roads, cold March mornings, a thousand miles ahead. Neither an overly demure city parka nor an excessively cold technical jacket, the M-422-LC occupies that rare territory where military functionality meets the rugged elegance of exploration wear. Each component has been sourced for its authenticity and traceability—from the French parachute canvas to the original military-issue American buttons—because a jacket built to last deserves materials that have already proven themselves in the field, before proving themselves on your adventures.

MY-8 Grey YKK® Zipper — Japan: Solid brass zipper with ring pull, Japanese benchmark standard — smooth glide, no risk of jamming, durability over 20+ years of intensive use
Corduroy collar & detachable hood — England: Corduroy selected from a historical English supplier — soft touch, structured hold, no sagging after washing. Detachable hood with invisible brass mesh zipper (size 5): detaches in seconds, no visible seams, no compromise to the silhouette once removed

Inner buttons — official US Army manufacturer: Original American supplies from the official military contractor, mounted on reinforced camouflage facings
Camouflage facings: Fabric matching the outer shell, double-stitched with high-tenacity thread at stress points — edge protection, military interior finish
Milerain® waxed spray — England: Supplied with the jacket. Reference English formula to nourish and regenerate the canvas coating — cold applied, quick-drying, without altering the color or camouflage
Reinforced construction: Flat-felled and overlocked seams in critical areas (under the sleeve) — armholes, pockets, bottom of the jacket — clean bias binding throughout the jacket, precision assembly in accordance with Pacifica Militaria standards

Veste d’Exploration M-422-LC
History & Construction

The M-422-LC is in line with the military-civilian exploration jackets of the 1940s-60s, developed for field officers, engineers, and correspondents operating in hostile environments — jungle, mountains, cold deserts. Its original specifications required a protective waterproof shell, a lightweight non-absorbent lining, and accessories capable of functioning in all weather conditions without maintenance.

The outer mixed camouflage coated canvas combines weather barrier and abrasion resistance — the coating consolidates and develops a patina with each wear, without loss of structural density. The French army nylon parachute canvas lining — decommissioned military stock, custom cut — ensures dry insulation and maximum lightness on the back, bottom of the jacket, and inner pockets. Solid brass Japanese MY-8 Grey Talon zipper for long-term mechanical reliability; Brice-Plate velvet collar for neck protection; YKK buttons stamped with the house logo on the outside, US Army button on the inside — each component responds to a logic of performance before any aesthetic logic.

Structured exploration fit, hip-length, defined shoulders: it adapts equally well as a standalone piece over a t-shirt or as a mid-layer over a thick shirt. The coated canvas evolves with use — every weather event, every friction, every road improves and personalizes it. Maintenance ensured by the supplied Milerain waxed spray, a reference English formula for regenerating the coating without altering the camouflage. A piece designed never to become obsolete — produced in a numbered limited edition. Once sold out, it does not return.

Contact us?
What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.
