Vintage Navy Wool Beanie

The wool beanie emerged in antiquity as a head covering for shepherds and peasants, protecting their heads from frost and wind without obstructing their view. A Phrygian symbol of freedom or the Breton fishermen's cap, it provided protection from the elements at sea and in the mountains; adopted by workers and then as civilian wear, it retains its practical purpose and timeless appeal.

Knitted in Scotland on ancestral hand machines, the blend of lambswool and Caregora angora (DEFRA-certified for rabbit welfare, without plucking) creates a fully-fashioned knit in one piece, without cutting or waste. The fine angora fiber (12-14 microns) with a velvety and shiny halo traps air for dry warmth; breathable, it prevents overheating, naturally stretches to fit all body shapes, and feels soft without itching.

28 cm high, 24 cm wide when flat, it covers ears and forehead without being tight. Elastic, it can be worn snugly or loosely, provides warmth from autumn to winter, and comes in khaki or bright colors for both the workshop and the street.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs are automatically calculated when you place your order. Delivery is free in France and Belgium for orders over €150, in Europe for orders over €300, and worldwide for orders over €400.

What are the delivery times?

Delivery times vary depending on the destination: 2 to 5 business days in France, 2 to 8 days in Europe, and up to 16 days for the rest of the world. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the order is shipped.

Can I return or exchange an item if the size doesn't fit?

Of course! Returns and exchanges are free in France and Belgium for all orders over €150. You have 14 days to try on your items at home and return them if necessary.
