The HBT trousers originate from the American M1941 work uniform, deployed in 1941 for soldiers and military workers. Made from herringbone twill (HBT), this fabric resisted mud, tears, and intensive washing during World War II; after 1945, it became civilian surplus and adapted to robust daily use.

Woven in Alsace by Velcorex since 1828, this 13 oz 100% French cotton transitions from herringbone twill to a sateen weave for a silky, textured feel. Flamed for subtle relief without roughness, it maintains density and suppleness; all pockets are lined with Italian herringbone (bellows cargo pocket 16x10 cm on the right thigh with corozo buttons, large 22x16 cm pocket on the left with a pointed flap, small back pockets with flaps), while a reinforced crotch and bartacks strengthen stressed areas. The belt loops are refined with a central topstitch, and the trousers are sewn in Morocco.

Its slim fit, with generous thighs (30.5 to 34.5 cm), and a hem of 16.75 to 18.5 cm, shapes the silhouette without excessive looseness. It allows for free movement for cycling or walking, balancing military practicality with modern elegance.

What is the quality of Champ de Manœuvres products?

Our clothes are made from exceptional materials—Japanese selvedge denim, French wool from Tournier, etc.—and assembled in our workshop in Toulouse on traditional machines.

Each piece is designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time. The fabrics are custom-developed: we design our own wefts, then have them woven in the world's best factories (Japan, France, Italy, Portugal, Morocco), often on antique looms. This process can take up to a year to create a new fabric.

It is this level of requirement that makes Champ de Manoeuvres unique and of high quality.
