The leather is \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tanning_(leather)\"\u003evegetable-tanned\u003c\/a\u003e, the oldest method of making a hide rot-proof and supple, slower than chrome tanning. It evolves instead of cracking: the colour darkens, the shape adjusts to the cards and then stabilises, without stretching.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eHand-dyed, sewn to last\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach piece is dyed by hand in Morocco, in natural, cognac, navy or olive green. It is assembled on a triple-feed machine, where the feed dog, the foot and the needle move together to sew thick leather without letting it slip, with the thick thread used in leatherwork. A hot-stamped Champ de Manoeuvres mark signs the leather. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth, and nourish it once or twice a year with a leather milk, in a thin layer. Avoid leaving it in full sun, which dries out the fibre.
