The usual answer is not pretty: sandblasting, chemical baths, a lot of water. For this men's vintage denim jacket we took the other path. It shares the history of our \u003ca href=\"\/en-us\/products\/blouson-jeans-brut\"\u003eraw denim jacket\u003c\/a\u003e, the work jacket of labourers and ranch hands turned classic, but in a denim already patinated: you wear it from day one with the drape of a piece that has lived two seasons.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eA patina without sandblasting or chemistry\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirst, what we do not use. No sandblasting: this process, which projects sand under pressure, has caused \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Silicosis\"\u003esilicosis\u003c\/a\u003e in textile workers and remains banned in several countries. No chemical bleaching agents either.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMaterial: 100% cotton, denim, twill weave\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eOrigin: made in Morocco\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDetail: ozone patina\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDetail: laser abrasions\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDetail: no sandblasting\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wear is achieved with ozone, which fades the fibre by oxidation without attacking its structure, and with laser for localised abrasions. The Moroccan workshop that makes this jacket works without a water bath: it reports about five litres per piece, against around a hundred for a classic wash. The result is the look of an old denim with the strength of a new cloth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eThe collar, the leather, the chain stitch\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt the collar, a Workwear Champ de Manœuvres leather patch; on the front, metal buttons. The waist hems and cuffs are chain-stitched, a very strong seam, and the thread was chosen to last. At the back, buttoned tabs at the waist let you adjust the volume.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eSix pockets lined in ecru\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTwo flap chest pockets, closed with a metal button. Two hand pockets. Two inner pockets. All are lined with a 100% cotton ecru cloth, which reinforces the bottoms where keys and coins wear most.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eCut and sizing\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStraight cut. From S to XXL, half chest runs from 53 to 61 cm (20.9 to 24 in) and length from 64 to 68 cm (25.2 to 26.8 in). Take your usual size: since the stiffness of the denim has already been broken, the jacket will not soften much more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eHow to wear a men's vintage denim jacket\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver a grey hoodie and a beanie, as in our photos, or over a white T-shirt, the combination that shows off the fading best. With dark trousers rather than jeans of the same shade: a navy \u003ca href=\"\/en-us\/products\/chino-gabardine-marine\"\u003echino\u003c\/a\u003e or an officer \u003ca href=\"\/en-us\/products\/chino-officier-pant-navy\"\u003echino\u003c\/a\u003e. In mid-season, a \u003ca href=\"\/en-us\/products\/pull-lambswool-gris-clair\"\u003elambswool sweater\u003c\/a\u003e underneath.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eCare\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWash it as rarely as possible; air it between wears. When needed: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, separately the first few times, because indigo bleeds. Air dry in the shade, never in a tumble dryer.
